When you are blessed with a new little one on the way it is very important to begin childproofing your home. When you bring your new baby home, you might think that those days will not ever come, but your baby will be mobile very soon.
The first thing you should do is make a list as you walk through each room of your home. Start in the living room and look around closely at things that may be a safety risk for your new baby.
Look at your coffee table, are there any sharp corners on it that you should cover? When your baby attempts to climb on it, where could you move it to avoid a painful fall?
Make sure that all of your electric sockets have safety prongs in them or they are covered. Look for cords that could cause a choking hazard. Also protect any of your precious figures now before they may end up in little hands and become broken.
When To Begin Childproofing Your Home and Why
It is a good idea to begin childproofing your home at about your mid pregnancy. This way you can really take your time to ensure that your home is very safe. The next room you might like to spend time in is the kitchen.
The kitchen has so many hazards in it that you may not think of at first. Bring your list and look for your drawers and consider putting latches on these drawers so that little hands can not pull them open.
There may be some flatware that would be dangerous. Also watch for cords in the kitchen, pet dishes, and cabinet doors. You will definitely want latches on all of your cabinet doors.
When you are working on childproofing your home do not forget all of the smaller rooms like the laundry room, guest rooms, and closets. Be sure to look under the beds, 
and look on your dressers to see if anything could be pulled down that would be harmful.
While it may seem overwhelming when you are childproofing your home it really is a fun thing to do when you are nesting for your new little one's arrival.
